Southwest Airlines announced that it will expand service out of Dallas Love Field to 12 new destinations. The expansion is contingent upon Southwest acquiring two gates that American Airlines is losing as a result of its merger with US Airways.

The Dallas-based airline said that the new destinations would be Charlotte, North Carolina; Charleston, South Carolina; Detroit, Michigan; Indianapolis, Indiana; Memphis, Tennessee; Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota; Newark, New Jersey; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina; Sacramento, California; San Francisco, California; and Seattle, Washington.

Southwest also announced five new routes from Dallas Love Field beginning in 2015: Boston, Massachusetts; Oakland, California; Panama City Beach, Florida; Portland, Oregon; and San Jose, California.

The airline previously announced 15 routes from Dallas Love Field and these are slated to operate starting in October and November of this year.
