Turkmenistan Airlines announced that it has taken delivery of the first of two Boeing 777-200LR planes that it currently has on order.
The 777-200LR is the world’s longest range commercial airliner. The plane has a range of 9,380 nautical miles, and its features include raked wingtips and additional structural strengthening.
In addition, Turkmenistan Airlines announced the opening of a new terminal at Ashgabat International Airport outside of Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on Wednesday.
Turkmenistan Airlines was founded in 1992. Since then, it has acquired seven Boeing 717-200s, three 737-300s, four 737-700s, five 737-800s, and four 757-200s for its fleet. The airline has its headquarters in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan is a former republic of the Soviet Union, before it became an independent nation in 1991. It is located in Central Asia, and shares borders with Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.
